The thriving town of Corralejo was once simply a sleepy fishing village consisting of a mere handful of buildings. The first tourists only appeared in the 1970’s, but today the demand for year round sunshine has seen Corralejo grow rapidly and now offers the tourist and investor alike an abundance of shops bars and restaurants as well as leisure facilities like the water park. Local cuisine is varied and offers an international influences in Spanish, English, Chinese, Thai, Indian and Italian. Local dishes include the wonderful Canarian stew Canarian potatoes usually served with a mojo sauce and the local goats cheese in a variety of strengths. Corralejo is home to the famous sand dunes, which are situated inside of the designated natural park reserve, where some of the best beaches in Europe can be found. From Corralejo’s north shore you can see spectacular views of Lanzarote and the island of Los Lobos. Water sports play a keen part of activities to be enjoyed in Corralejo, including wind surfing, snorkelling, scuba diving and paragliding. Rugged sports such as quad biking and mountain biking are also available.
