Ibi is located in the Spanish region of Alicante on the Costa Blanca. The oldtown district that is in the proximities of the church, is known as "the Costeretas", and is a series of narrow streets raised in the slope of the hill of Santa Lucia. The Hermitage of Santa Lucia can be reached from different points of the village and is one of the most emblematic images of Ibi. According to the tradition, the hermitage was constructed on the ruins of an Arab castle. Beautiful sandy beaches, Europe's biggest salt flats bursting with bird life, historic sites and a huge variety of Spanish and international restaurants…just a very few of the reasons to book a holiday here or to look for a property for rent in Ibi. A place to visit are the XVI century frescoes, wich represent the coronation of Mary, and also a wooden engraved panel, all exposed at the San Vicente Ermit, wich has been recently restored. According to account the tradition to devotion of S. Pascual began in 1661 when a farmer of Ibi, after a persistent drought, implored to the saint at the same time that he sank his farm pole and a water source arose. In commemoration of this event a small hermitage was built and in this place the 17 of May began the custom to attend a mass followed of a open air breakfast and until lunch time races are celebrated, popular pastimes and dances with the sounds of the charanga, a local instrument.
