In the Marina Baixa region at Costa Blanca, the city of Altea opens up to the sea from one of the most
beautiful bays on the Mediterranean coast. On the top of a hill, protected from cold winds by the mountains behind, this place has all the charm of
a Mediterranean coast village. Altea is located 10 km from Benidorm, 50 km from
Alicante and 120 km from Valencia. By road: The connections by road with Altea is the
Mediterranean motorway A-7, exit (salida) 65. The main road N-332 connects Altea with Alicante and Valencia. Even if you never set foot outside
Altea during your holiday you won't run short of sights to see, places to visit and things to do. And if you're keen to venture further afield, the
Costa Blanca and its hinterland offers a wealth of major attractions - both natural and man made - within easy reach. To know the historical
antecedents of Altea it would be necessary to look for them in the Iberian culture, in the findings that rest in the territory and have been
discovered, just as some from the Roman time, of which today are left small tracks like the remains of an aqueduct that is known with the name of
"Els Arcs". Altea has six kilometres of pebble beaches interspersed with coves and cliffs (including a popular naturist beach). At the foot of the
old town on the hill you'll find the main shopping street of Avenida del Rey Jaime I which runs parallel to the attractive palm fringed seafront
esplanade, the Passeig Maritimo.
This region also offers notable beaches of fine sand and shallow waters such as Villajoyosa
(meaning 'joyful' or 'happy' town) and the Palm tree surrounded coastal town of Elche.
For those wanting a quiet relaxing time, the quiet valley town of La Nucia,
Oliva, lined with orange groves and
Torrevieja's beautiful lagoons or
Javea are delightful destinations. The upmarket beachside resort of
Altea is also worth a visit with its beautiful beaches and clear blue water. Find your Calpe property in
our pages. Other resorts like Lloret, a popular holiday spot in Catalonia, and
Teulada, more popular among foreign residents and
Villajoyosa. Ibi and
Blanes alternatively offer quiet and tranquil surroundings, for the people who like to relax and emerse
themselves in Spainish culture. We can offer you property in Altea and the rest of the Costa Blanca.
