Javea itself is a small, historic town in the northern section of the province of
Alicante, free of high rise buildings offering a relaxing holiday and contact with a
friendly and forthcoming local population. Javea with its variety of landscape, ranging from sandy coastlines similar to
Denia, to rugged mountain areas, its mild year-round climate, its careful planning policies and extensive
tourist facilities, is a jewel on the Costa Blanca, combining beauty and modern facilities with the charm of an ancient fishing village.
Javea has one of the most attractive seaports along the Mediterranean, due both to its location and to its unsurpassed fishing and sports
installations. The modern Yacht Club at the sports marina has nearly 300 berths and facilities for all types of water sports, sailing, fishing,
scuba diving, water skiing, windsurfing etc. Just outside of the town, surrounded by pines and orange groves, the Javea Golf Club offers a pleasant
setting for golfers. There are several other golf courses within easy access of Javea. A number of sports clubs and associations in the area promote
tennis, horse-riding and even shooting. Javea old town is steeped in history, with tosca stone porticoes, gothic bay windows, wrought iron window
bars and balcony railings. The church of San Bartolemé in the town centre is an example of late gothic with a defensive character.
This region also offers notable beaches of fine sand and shallow waters such as Villajoyosa
(meaning 'joyful' or 'happy' town) and the Palm tree surrounded coastal town of Elche.
For those wanting a quiet relaxing time, the quiet valley town of La Nucia or
Calpe are delightful destinations, however, if this sounds a little too quiet for your taste,
Benidorm and Alicante offer a different charm, with an incredible proliferation of shops, outdoor
cafe's and nightlife, no craving will go unfed. The upmarket beachside resort of Altea is also worth
a visit with its beautiful beaches and clear blue water. Find your Javea property in our pages.
