Estepona (80km from Malaga)is truly
privileged, it is a sizeable town with pleasant, well-maintained beaches and a charming marina. Located on the western Costa
del Sol it offers the visitor an unrivaled array of attractions, from Golf to water sports. Glorious summers and mild winters
make it the perfect holiday destination for the discerning traveler. Further along the coast towards the british enclave of Gibraltar are the
presitgious marinas of Puerto de Sotogrande, La Duquesa and
Puerto Banus, all surounded by delightful beaches.
Steeped in history and culture the town remains unspoiled and future development is carefully planned to ensure the preservation of the town´s
identity. Estepona is one of the few coastal towns that has succeeded in maintaining its pueblo charm and character, despite the onslaught of
tourism. Notwithstanding, all the tourist facilities are here, including hotels, restaurants, leisure and cultural activities, and shops.
Property for Sale is very popular in Estepona, where many people from outside decide to buy property and make Estepona their second home. The
flip side is that the numerous street cafes and tapas bars still serve traditional Spanish delicacies and excellent seafood
selections, however, the steep, cobbled, narrow streets seem more suited to horses than cars, reminicient of the streets
of San Pedro and more inland destinations such as Alhaurin el Grande,
Coin and Ronda. You'll also find
unusual shops and bodegas in Estepona, where you'd least expect them, all very inviting, very friendly - and very cheap! Park the car in the
underground car park under the seafront promenade and walk through to the pedestrianised Calle Real. Where this road crosses Calle Terraza is
a good starting poin, where the popular Café Central on the corner is the favoured choice for many.
Similarly, Ronda, Nerja and Alhaurin offer
a wealth of culture and entertainment throughout the year to satisfy even the most demanding of people, while places like
Benavista and San Pedro have thier own
attractions. However, if this does not sound like you, destinations like
Benalmadena,
Fuengirola, Mijas,
Torremolinos and the famous Puerto Banus each have something to offer you
in terms of nightlife and activities by day.
